Wild Swimming North Yorkshire is known for its many health benefits, from boosting circulation and improving mood to building resilience and promoting mental well-being.
The lake itself is of a generous size, offering plenty of space for multiple swimmers while maintaining a calm and tranquil atmosphere. A non-toxic lake dye gives the water its distinctive bluish tinge — this is completely safe and helps maintain the lake’s natural balance, creating an ideal environment for Wild Swimming in North Yorkshire throughout the year.
To make access easy and safe, several entry and exit platforms are positioned around the lake. For added reassurance, safety ring buoys are located at intervals around the shoreline, ensuring that every Wild Swimming in North Yorkshire session is both enjoyable and secure for all participants.
We’ve also carried out a comprehensive risk assessment, outlining key safety procedures and guidance for all swimmers. This ensures that everyone taking part in wild swimming in North Yorkshire at Woodland Lakes can enjoy the experience with confidence, knowing the environment has been carefully prepared and monitored for their safety.

- Familiarise yourself with the lake layout, including entry/exit points and the location of safety ring buoys around the shore.
- Be aware of the water temperature and your own physical condition — cold water can reduce your swimming ability and affect your judgement.
