Covering Wild Swimming & Sauna

1. Introduction

1. These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings and use of facilities at Woodland Lakes, including wild swimming and sauna sessions (collectively referred to as “activities”).
2. By making a booking, attending a session, or entering the site, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
3. Please read carefully before taking part. Participation in any activity is entirely at your own risk.
4. A defibrillator (defib) is located on-site at Woodland Lakes for emergency use.

2. Eligibility and Participation

1. All activities are for adults only (18+).
2. You must be physically fit and able to swim confidently to take part in any water-based activity.
3. If you have a medical condition (e.g. heart, respiratory, circulation, or neurological issues), are pregnant, or under medical advice, you must consult your doctor before participating.
4. By taking part, you confirm that you are in good health and understand the physical nature of the activities.
5. Woodland Lakes staff may refuse participation if they believe you are unfit or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
6. You must follow all safety instructions, signage, and guidance provided by Woodland Lakes staff.
7. In case of medical attention, please approach any Woodland Lakes staff member immediately. In an emergency, dial 999.

3. General Safety Rules

1. There are no lifeguards on duty. All activities are undertaken at your own risk.
2. You must only enter the water or sauna during your allocated session time and through designated access points.
3. No alcohol, recreational drugs, or smoking are permitted during or immediately before any activity.
4. No dogs, BBQs, fires, or portable stoves are permitted around the lake or in the sauna area.
5. No amplified music, loud noise, or disruptive behaviour that could disturb others.
6. Respect the environment, dispose of litter responsibly, and avoid damaging wildlife or surroundings.
7. Please report any safety concerns or incidents immediately to staff.
8. Woodland Lakes reserves the right to stop any session or ask individuals to leave if safety rules are breached.

4. Wild Swimming Rules

1. You must be a competent swimmer and confident in open water.
2. Swimming is entirely unsupervised and undertaken at your own risk.
3. We strongly recommend using a tow float and brightly coloured swim cap for visibility.
4. Wetsuits are recommended in cold conditions or during colder months for warmth and safety.
5. No diving or jumping into the lake unless signage explicitly allows it.
6. Check water and weather conditions before entering. Cold-water shock, hidden obstacles, or sudden changes in conditions can pose serious risks.
7. Always use the designated entry and exit points.
8. Do not swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
9. Respect other swimmers’ space at all times.

5. Sauna Rules

1. Sauna use is available only by pre-booking. Each booking is for a 1-hour session (entry and exit time included). Please ensure you have vacated the sauna by the end of your slot to allow the next guests to begin on time.
2. No alcohol, drugs, or glass containers are allowed in or near the sauna.
3. Stay hydrated — bring a bottle of water and take regular breaks.
4. If you feel dizzy, unwell, or overheated, leave the sauna immediately and cool down slowly.
5. Pregnant guests or those with heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, or medical concerns should consult their doctor before use.
6. Swimwear or appropriate attire must be worn at all times unless otherwise stated for private hire sessions.
7. No shaving, oils, creams, or food are permitted inside the sauna.
8. Please keep conversations respectful and noise levels low to maintain a relaxing atmosphere.
9. Do not pour excessive water on the sauna stones; use the ladle and follow posted guidance.
10. In any medical emergency, alert staff immediately — a defibrillator is available on-site; for serious emergencies, call 999.

6. Bookings, Payments & Cancellations

1. All bookings must be made in advance through our official booking system or authorised partner.
2. All tickets are non-refundable.
3. Bookings are non-transferable without prior consent from Woodland Lakes.
4. If Woodland Lakes cancels a session (e.g. unsafe conditions, maintenance, or unforeseen issues), you may be offered an alternative date or credit, at our discretion.
5. Late arrivals may forfeit part or all of their session without refund.
6. Prices are subject to change, but confirmed bookings will be honoured at the rate paid.

7. Personal Property & Conduct

1. Personal belongings are left entirely at your own risk. Woodland Lakes is not liable for theft, loss, or damage.
2. Please use designated parking areas and follow on-site signage.
3. Aggressive, antisocial, or unsafe behaviour will result in immediate removal from the site without refund.
4. Anyone causing deliberate damage to property, equipment, or the environment will be liable for repair or replacement costs.

8. Liability & Risk Acknowledgement

1. Participation in open-water swimming and sauna sessions carries inherent risks including but not limited to cold-water shock, injury, illness, heat exposure, and drowning.
2. You accept full responsibility for your own health, safety, and wellbeing during your visit.
3. Woodland Lakes accepts no liability for personal injury, illness, death, or loss of property, except where caused by proven negligence.
4. By taking part, you acknowledge and accept these risks and agree to participate voluntarily.
5. We recommend obtaining personal insurance if desired.

9. Photography & Media

1. Photography and filming are permitted for personal use only.
2. Do not photograph or record other guests without consent.
3. Woodland Lakes may occasionally take promotional photos or videos — please inform staff if you do not wish to appear in them.

10. Changes & Updates

1. Woodland Lakes reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time.
2. The latest version will always be available on our website and applies to all current and future bookings.

11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
